The U.S. has created artificial intelligence for U.S. intelligence and defense needs

Anthropic, a startup developing the Claude family of models, has launched a special version of AI – Claude Gov – for US national security clients. According to an official statement, only organizations working in a highly classified environment have access to this technology. Deployment of the models has already taken place “in the highest level of institutions.

Claude Gov models are customized based on feedback from government agencies. They are designed to perform tasks in areas such as strategic planning, intelligence analysis, threat assessment and operational decision support. Priority functions include handling classified documents, linguistic interpretation, cyber security and analyzing complex information sets.

Anthropic emphasizes that Claude Gov retains the same principles of safe and responsible development as commercial versions of AI. However, it includes specialized features that provide enhanced performance for critical defense and intelligence missions.

The company notes that the creation of Claude Gov confirms its long-term commitment to government customers. Earlier, in November 2024, Anthropic already provided access to its AI models to US intelligence agencies. Meta has also taken a similar step.
