The Ethereum Foundation has unveiled its ten-year strategy for the development of the network.

Following the celebration of Ethereum’s tenth anniversary, the Ethereum Foundation presented its strategy for the development of the blockchain over the next ten years. The document was authored by Justin Drake, a leading developer of the network, who outlined key areas for scaling and strengthening security.
At the beginning of his speech, Drake noted the protocol’s flawless performance since its launch: 100% uptime, a diverse client base, and 35.7 million ETH in staking — equivalent to $130 billion. According to him, Ethereum is ready to cement its role as the “foundation of the internet of value.”
The developer emphasized that the network must be able to withstand any threats — from pressure from nation states to the emergence of quantum computers. He called this approach the “fortress mode”: if the internet is accessible, Ethereum must also work.
The strategic plan highlights accelerated scaling. A slight increase in performance is expected in the next 6–12 months, and in the long term, Ethereum should enter “beast mode.” This implies processing up to 10,000 transactions per second at the first level and up to 1 million TPS at the second.
To ensure decentralization, the team plans to integrate zkVM in real time and use DAS for the data layer. Among the prospects is the possibility of full chain verification even on browsers and smartphones.
The updated roadmap provides for the development of all key network components: Beacon Chain 2.0 with accelerated finalization, BLOB 2.0 with post-quantum protection and flexible data structure, as well as EVM 2.0 — minimalistic, compatible, and optimized for SNARK instructions.
Particular attention is paid to the threat of quantum attacks and the growth in the number of SNARK protocols. Drake named cryptography based on hashing as the optimal solution. He added that all new components have been rethought “from first principles” and should provide a combination of security, performance, and simplicity.
Earlier, in May, a major Pectra upgrade was activated on the Ethereum network. The next Fusaka hardfork is scheduled for November.
