The Number of Crypto Millionaires Increased by 40%: In 2024, There Are 241 Thousand

The year 2024 was a record for wealthy digital asset owners. According to a report by Henley & Partners and New World Wealth, the number of crypto millionaires increased by 40% to reach 241,700 people.
Experts attribute the main growth factor to the rise in Bitcoin prices, which significantly increased the overall wealth of investors.
The study notes that among the large capital owners in cryptocurrencies, 36 people have billionaire status, with 17 of them owing their wealth solely to Bitcoin. Overall, about 60% of crypto millionaires gained their wealth through the first cryptocurrency.
It is specifically mentioned that 450 investors own more than $100 million in Bitcoin, demonstrating a high concentration of assets among a small group of market participants.
The total value of the fortunes of crypto millionaires and billionaires is estimated at $3.3 trillion, which is 45% more than last year. Meanwhile, the number of dollar millionaires associated with Bitcoin grew by 70% over the year.
The report’s authors called these figures “historic,” emphasizing their connection to institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies and regulatory changes.
Despite the sharp growth, the wealthy in cryptocurrencies remain a small group compared to traditional capital. They account for only 0.4% of the total number of millionaires in the world, estimated by UBS at 60 million people. At the same time, the total number of digital asset users according to the report reached 590 million people, which corresponds to approximately 7.4% of the planet’s population.
JAN3 head Samson Mow added that the phenomenon of cryptocurrencies reflects a philosophical shift: unlike fiat money with infinite issuance, Bitcoin’s supply is limited to 21 million coins. In his opinion, this changes the very understanding of wealth and challenges states that are losing control over part of global financial flows.
